Zomato settlement report explained, and how to match it to your bank by UTR

By Raghav R · 16 October 2026

A Zomato payout lands in your bank as one credit. The settlement report behind it can run to hundreds of rows. If you only check that "something came in on Thursday", you won't notice a fee charged on the wrong base, a refund recovered twice, or an order that was never paid.

This guide explains how Zomato settles, what each line means, and a weekly routine to tie the payout to your bank statement using the UTR.

One caution: your rates are set in the enrolment form you signed with Zomato. The public Zomato online-ordering terms set out how money flows and what can be deducted, not your percentages. Use this article for the logic, and your form for the numbers.

How Zomato pays you

Zomato collects the order value and passes it on after deducting its service fee, the payment mechanism fee, the tax it collects on restaurant service, and "any other amount" due under your form or for services you specifically agreed to (Zomato terms, clause 9).

Timing. Settlement is weekly by default. Orders served Monday to Sunday are paid on or before Thursday of the following week, and if that Thursday is a bank holiday, payment moves to the next working day. The terms also allow settlement within three bank working days if you opted for it in your form (Zomato terms, clause 9(ii)). Separately, Zomato launched daily payouts in January 2024 for smaller partners (100 or fewer orders a month), settling sales from three days earlier, switchable in the Payout section of the Restaurant Partner app (Zomato blog).

The terms on the report, in plain English

Zomato's terms define the words its reports use (Zomato terms, clause 1):

  • Order Value: what the customer pays for the restaurant service.
  • Gross Sales: what you charged the customer, including taxes, less discounts you offered on Zomato.
  • Service fee: what you pay Zomato, "formerly known as Commission", at the rate in your form.
  • Payment Mechanism Fee: a percentage of Order Value including taxes, less any charge collected by Zomato but not levied by you.
  • Net Order Value: Order Value less the service fee and other amounts due to Zomato.

Note the trap: the payment mechanism fee is charged on a base that includes GST, while TDS is calculated on Gross Sales less taxes.

What's in the report

The layout changes from time to time. Sample reports partners have shared publicly have had a payout summary, an order-level sheet (one row per order), a sheet for additions and deductions not tied to one order, and settlement details including the bank UTR. Your file's glossary tab is the authority for your version.

The lines, one by one

1. Order value, packaging and your discounts

Item totals plus packaging, less discounts you funded. Under Zomato's promotion terms you decide a promotion's details and validity, and you fund its cost (Zomato terms, clause 3(xliii)). Check every discount line against an offer you set up.

2. GST on restaurant service

Since 1 January 2022 Zomato pays the GST on restaurant service under section 9(5) of the CGST Act and generates the invoice on your behalf (Zomato terms, clauses 3(iii) and 11; CBIC Circular 167). Treat it as a pass-through, not a cost.

3. Service fee

The rate comes from your form. Recompute a few orders and confirm which base the percentage is applied to.

4. Payment mechanism fee

Charged on Order Value including taxes. If your recomputation on the pre-GST amount doesn't match, that is probably why.

5. Other charges

Ads, and charges where Zomato gave extra support or refunded customers for reasons attributed to you, "as may be communicated" in periodic reports (Zomato terms, clause 10). In 2025 Zomato also introduced a long-distance fee for deliveries beyond 4 km, reported by MediaNama as ₹20 per order for 4 to 6 km and ₹40 above 6 km, with order-value conditions (MediaNama). Whether any apply depends on your form and notices; fee changes come with seven days' prior intimation (clause 10).

6. Refunds and "Problem Orders"

If Zomato refunds a customer because delivery instructions weren't followed or food was poor, you aren't paid for that order, and if you already were, Zomato can offset it against future payouts (Zomato terms, clause 8(ii)). So a deduction can appear in a week where the order didn't happen.

7. Compensation for cancelled orders

When an accepted order is cancelled for reasons not attributable to you, the Restaurant Partner Compensation Policy can pay you part or all of it. This shows as an addition. We cover the rules in how to dispute Zomato deductions and unpaid orders.

8. TDS (income tax)

Zomato deducts TDS under section 393(1) of the Income-tax Act, 2025 (formerly section 194-O) on Gross Sales less taxes (Zomato terms, clause 11). The rate is 0.1% (Section 393, Income Tax Department). You claim it back; see our TDS and TCS guide.

9. TCS (GST)

Zomato collects TCS only on "Supply of Food and Beverages Items" other than restaurant service, meaning supplies not covered by section 9(5) (Zomato terms, clause 11). The rate is 0.5% (GSTN advisory). On ordinary restaurant orders this line should be zero.

10. Set-offs for other Zomato dues

Zomato can set off amounts you or your affiliates owe any Zomato group company (clause 9(iii)). If a deduction doesn't relate to food orders, ask what it is for.

Matching the payout to your bank by UTR

Every NEFT or RTGS credit carries a UTR (unique transaction reference), the one field that links the report to your bank statement without guesswork.

  1. Pick the cycle. For weekly settlement, take one Monday-to-Sunday week, for example orders from 5 to 11 October 2026, payable on or before Thursday 15 October 2026.
  2. Note the UTR and amount from the settlement details in the report.
  3. Search the bank statement for that UTR. Confirm amount and date. Don't rely on the remitter name: the contracting entity in the terms is Eternal Limited (formerly Zomato Limited), so your statement may not say "Zomato".
  4. Tie the total. Order-level payouts, minus week-level deductions, plus additions such as compensation, should equal the credit to the paisa.
  5. Explain any gap: a recovery for an earlier order, a holiday that pushed the credit to Friday, a switch between daily and weekly payouts, or orders rolled into the next cycle.
  6. Check against your POS. Orders in your POS that are missing from the report are either unpaid or in a later cycle. Find out which.
  7. Book it. Post sales, fees, TDS and the bank receipt. See Swiggy and Zomato entries in Tally Prime.

Monthly and quarterly checks

  • Monthly invoice. Zomato emails an invoice for service fee, payment mechanism fee and other charges within 7 days of month-end (clause 7(ii)). The fees on it should equal the sum of that month's weekly deductions.
  • Monthly TCS statement, shared with the invoice (clause 11).
  • Quarterly TDS certificate. Raise any discrepancy within 15 days of receiving it. Zomato will not entertain any discrepancy after 31 July of the following year (clause 11).

FAQ

Why doesn't the payment mechanism fee match my calculation? It is charged on Order Value including taxes, not on the pre-GST amount.

Check every payout without the spreadsheet

OnPlusOne is an early-stage Bengaluru startup building an AI agent that reconciles POS, Swiggy, Zomato, UPI, card, cash and bank every day, matches payouts by UTR, and flags deductions that don't fit your contract. It is a working prototype, piloting in Bengaluru. See it in the live demo, or read more about Swiggy and Zomato reconciliation and daily restaurant reconciliation.
